OUR FOUNDATION
Our aim is to keep Jesus Christ as the head of our home.  We strive, but know we sometimes fail, to bring a Christ-like attitude to everything we do.  Below are some of the scriptures that are foundational to our faith.

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.

Joshua 24:15
…....…but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Mark 12:29-31
..........  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. “There is no commandment greater than these."

Jeremiah 29:11-13
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Malachi 3:10
"Let your tenths come into the store-house so that there may be food in my house, and put me to the test by doing so, says the Lord of armies, and see if I do not make the windows of heaven open and send down such a blessing on you that there is no room for it.

Welcome to Laird Premium Blend Genetics.  We appreciate your visit to our site.

Our family began raising purebred showpigs in 1916 when my Grandfather Chester Meal purchased his first purebred Poland Chinas under the Home Place Farm banner.  Home Place Farm was extremely successful in the 1930s thru the 1950s including showing FIVE purebred Poland Barrows to Grand Champion 4-H honors @ the Indiana State Fair in '33, '40, '47, '48 & '49.   Chester judged most every major show of the day and worked as a fieldman for the Poland Association for a few years.

The baton was passed on to my father Bill Laird, who purchased his first Polands from Chester Meal in 1951 - a boar named Kinsman and a gilt named Faith B.  He liked the pigs so much he decided to marry Chester & Faye Meal's youngest daughter - Faith.   Bill Laird & Family exhibited several champion Poland gilts & boars at the Indiana State Fair and National Shows and placed three Poland barrows in the 4-H Spotlight sale @ the Indiana State Fair.

Ted Laird Hampshires began in 1982 with the purchase of the Reserve Champion Hampshire gilt from Larry & Joe Rule @ the Indiana State Sale.  Long-time family friend John L. Fox offered to breed this gilt to the Indiana State Fair Champion Boar from Ken Dorrel and we showed gilts out of this sow to 1st, 3rd & 4th in her first litter @ the 1983 Indiana State Fair Open Show.  That kind of got us hooked on Hampshire females and breeding better Hampshire females remains our primary passion.

We strive to continue the tradition of  breeding winning showpigs and doing so with integrity.

Littermate to the Grand Overall Gilt 2012 NJSA Western Regional
Sold in our Oct 17, 2011 On-Line Sale
It is kids like Cody Day that make this a fun business to be in and also that keep us very honest with our descriptions and what we select to put on-line.  When I talked to Cody's dad Mike the day after the on-line sale, he told me how this was Cody's last year and how bad he had been wanting to buy one of our Hamp gilts.  Then we meet Cody in El Reno to deliver the gilt and you can tell he is ready to just bust to see his gilt.   Imagine the feeling we would have had if we had to load a broken-topped, crooked legged piece of junk on his trailer.

We take great pride in presenting the pigs in as good BUT honest light that we can and are glad to tell you where we would fix each one because we know how much these projects mean to many of the kids (and families) that walk behind them.  Do they all win - NO.  Do they all turn out like we hope - NO.  Do we picture them and describe them the best we can -YES.  Do we stand behind them 100% - YES.
Description: We hope the pictures do this one justice because  we think she is without a doubt the best Hampshire Female we have ever bred.  Everything we want in a gilt, she has it, and then some. She is sired by  HomeBody (sire of our 2011 Indiana State Fair Reserve Grand Hamp Gilt, as  well as her littermate we recently sold off the farm for $4,500) and her  mother is a Model T sow that we bought from Jerry McLemore in the fall of  2009 that Jerry said was the best Model T gilt that he had sold. Power,  muscle, bone, width, rib, feet, femininity. Buy with confidence... we expect  to hear great things from this tremendous female down the road. The best we  have ever bred.
Description: This gilt was the greenest when these gilts were  younger, but she has been flat out rolling lately. She is just designed so  good, it is hard to tear a hole in this one. At this stage, she looks a lot  like the HomeBody gilt that we showed to Reserve Grand honors at the 2011  Indiana State Fair! HomeBody is making a name for himself for structure that  we have been looking for in Hamps and this gilt offers that same flawless  design and look, with more than enough power to push you over the top. Don't  miss out on this one!
